Every choice we make makes up who we are. These choices can change our lives, but the memories, the feelings, and the moments stay with us...especially if it is a really bad pair of shoes. Now, I’ve made some really good and some really bad shoe life choices. Some have dear memories of how they cradled my foot and took me places, what the purpose was that I bought them for, the high you get when you buy something new. Some give me nightmares of the blisters they gave me and ruined my whole day, the realization that I really do not have a reason to wear them, the guilt felt when you realize the waste of perfectly good money. Some have met their demise, some have made their way onto my feet and out on numerous adventures, some have found new homes and have gone on to ruin someone else’s life. They all live on in this series of watercolor studies that then found new life being turned into a series of lithographs, no matter what their story is. What started as a quick release of ideas and images, turned into a lengthy process which allowed me to spend time with each pair of shoes. They are a timestamp. They are a memory. They are a moment. They are a feeling. They are a piece of me.
